After a long time, the Rang De Newsletter for January 2010 has been released and is loaded with content.
Although most of the information in the newsletter has been communicated through the Rang De blog, the newsletter offers more insight on some of the Rang De Chapter activities, our newest field partner in West Bengal — Swami Vivekananda Welfare Society, Sripur and an anecdote of Aditya Shembekar’s (member of the Rang De Mumbai Chapter) experience during a field visit.
Most important of all is however, a mishap that happened with a borrower named Ansuya. Anusuya was one of the chosen borrowers, from T. Narsipura (about 40 kms. from Mysore). Her need was to expand her petty shop. However, when a Rang De team member and some social investors visited her, Anusuya seemed to be totally in the dark. A little more questioning and probing led us to infer that Anusuyas father-in-law intended to use the money to lend it to others in the village. The Rang De team has taken action and informed social investors to select another borrower to lend their money to. Read more about this incident in the newsletter.
