The objective of Swabhimaan is to bring about long term borrowing behavioral change in Swabhimaan members by empowering them to make informed financial decisions. In order for behavior change to become an integral part of the program, we have introduced various interventions throughout the Swabhimaan process. The Open Day is one such intervention.

An Open Day event is conducted once in two months. On this day, we open up the Swabhimaan center to all community members, inviting them to come together, understand and acquaint themselves with Swaabhimaan. This day provides a platform for people to interact and familiarize themselves with Swabhimaan team members and its processes. Another important part of the Open Day event is acknowledging and celebrating the achievements of the Swabhimaan members.

On 30th November, members of the Swabhimaan team gathered at our center at Yeshwanthpura in Karnataka to celebrate and felicitate the Swabhimaan members for clearing their assessment. Certificates were distributed to six members. Certificates and other small gifts are given to members to motivate them to perform better and improve their financial behavior. This small token of appreciation effectively motivates the community members and gives them a feeling of achievement.

The Ambassador program will be launched soon (January 2019) and each Ambassador will represent the center for two months.

A few members of the community also joined in to learn more about Swabhimaan. On the completion of the certificate distribution, the Swabhimaan team members went on to talk to the community about Swabhimaan. Three of the community members who attended the program signed up for financial literacy training. Through this event, we also introduced Swabhimaan members to our Ambassador program, where a representative, who has shown an improvement in financial behavior, is chosen from the community to represent and spread the word about Swabhimaan. The Ambassador program will be launched soon (January 2019) and each Ambassador will represent the center for two months.

These behavioral change interventions also play a great role in motivating and keeping members connected to the center. They provide community members with different platforms to engage with Swabhimaan.
