“I am a Rang De investor and I want to share my experience about a recent borrower evaluation.

“I have been a social investor with Rang De for some years and although Rang De has been proactively sending e-mail updates on any new borrower I lent to (sometimes, my investment was as low as Rs 100), I was curious to understand how the whole process works.

“Recently, when Rang De sent another social investor update e-mail, I decided to delve further and noticed that Rang De provided an option for borrower evaluation in person or via phone. On clicking the form, it gave the option to pick up a convenient date for evaluation.

I would like to thank Rang De for providing the platform for social investors to make a difference to small entrepreneurs and providing transparency in the whole process by enabling investors to talk to the borrowers directly.

“I completely forgot about it and was pleasantly surprised when Farheen (Impact Manager) from Rang De reached out to me regarding the borrower evaluation I had requested. She had researched the borrower I had lent to and offered to set up a conference call with the borrower and the partner.

“When she explained about the process about how Range De works and how they need to contact the field partner (Sagras) to get the borrower on the same call, I was apprehensive that so much coordination would need to be done disturbing the lives of many folks as well as the language barrier involved. Farheen assured me that it would not be a trouble at all and she would coordinate and confirm the timing back to me. We planned to meet on 24th April and Farheen confirmed a day before on the time.

“On 24th April at sharp 11 in the morning, I got a call from Farheen with Ayesha Ji (the borrower) and Maitrey Ji (Sagras senior employee) on the call and after the introduction, I got the chance to talk to Ayesha Ji directly.

“It was very heart warming to talk to the borrower directly and listen that a small loan given by a Range De social investor is making a difference in people’s life in different parts of India. Maitrey Ji also explained about the borrower selection and the money distribution process and patiently answered various questions I had about the entire end-to-end process. He also mentioned how Range De had much better interest rates for the borrower.

“Overall, we spoke for around 20 mins and it was very satisfying experience.

“It was very professionally and smoothly done and I would especially like to thank Farheen for arranging it. I would like to thank Rang De for providing the platform for social investors to make a difference to small entrepreneurs and providing transparency in the whole process by enabling investors to talk to the borrowers directly. It gave me an assurance on the money being well spent and whole process being very auditable and gave me the confidence to invest some more.

“Thanks to the entire Range De team.”
