Back to the Field

By Shital Pawar, Impact Team - Rang De

Bahadarpur is a small village in Parola Block of Jalgaon District, Maharashtra. After a night long journey from Pune, I and my colleague Hitesh reached the place to spend two days with the community. Like many other villages in the region, Bahadarpur also suffers issues of frequent drought, lack of irrigation and load shedding for almost 12 hours every day but in spite of all the difficulties, Bahadarpur is on a dedicated journey towards reaching complete self-reliance. This has definitely not happened overnight! The efforts of Ms. Nilima Mishra – the Ramon Magsaysay award winner – and her team of Bhagini Nivedita Gramin Vigyan Niketan (BNGVN) has been facilitating this.… Read further

The doors of perception

This is a post by Rang De’s team member, Hitesh Bhatt about his recent trip to Parvati Swayamrojgar

If the doors of perception are cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, infinite.- William Blake

On 6th of October, on the occasion of Baqr’Eid, the second of two religious holidays celebrated by Muslims worldwide each year, I got another opportunity to meet our Rang De borrowers and join them in celebration. Pune, a city which celebrates every festival with a zeal that I have not experienced elsewhere in the country, was the place I went to meet our impact partner (PSW- Parvati Swayamrojgar) and the borrowers.… Read further

Notes from the field: Charaka (Karnataka)

This is an account of the overnight field trip to Charaka in July that was undertaken by Rang De team members and social investors. This write up has been shared by Raghu Chandra, part of Rang De’s tech team

On the way we stopped near Tumkur and had a much needed cup of coffee. As we drew nearer to Sagar in Shimoga District it started raining again. As we peered out of the bus windows we could rich green all around, the beauty of the place is hard to describe and has to be experienced.… Read further

Notes from the Field- Orissa

Hitesh Bhatt, Rang De’s newest team member, is a part of the Impact team. He just came back from a trip to Orissa where he visited our field partners, Darbar Sahita Sansad (DSS) and Nari and Shishu Kalyan Kendra (NSKS)

Orissa, the land of temples, lakes, rivers and dense forests, is also home to fabulous people and awesome food. This was my first visit to the state and I fell hopelessly in love with it. During the course of five days in the outskirts and villages of Bhubaneshwar, Khurda Road, and Balasore, I got the opportunity to interact with local people, Rang De borrowers and the staff members of our field partners in Orissa.… Read further
